General:
This product comes from a succulent plant native to South Africa. It's Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum), and now available in tincture infused with 80 proof vodka.
It's traditionally used for its psychoactive effects and is sometimes marketed as a natural relaxant or nootropic supplement. In traditional medicine, it has been used to alleviate stress, depression, pain, and hunger. Potential effects and uses include relaxation, mood enhancer, and cognitive effects.
Safety and Considerations:
Some people may experience nausea or a tingly feeling in the stomach, even in small amounts. Kanna can interact with certain medications, particularly those that affect serotonin levels, so it's important to consult with a healthcare professional before using it, especially if you're taking antidepressants or other medications. Overly frequent use can reduce the effect and consuming kanna in larger quantities can paradoxically increase anxiety. Mixing kanna with other substances, like MAO inhibitors, MDMA, 5HTP, or SSRI antidepressants, can be dangerous and potentially lead to serotonin syndrome. More research is needed to fully understand the safety and potential of kanna.
Suggested Use:
One-half dropper under the tongue, twice daily.
